STUDIO REMNANTS - Class of 2020 Art Dept. Cornish College of the Arts

I have been managing the Art studios at Cornish College of the Arts since 2015. This year marks an unusual year and I can't help but want to post some memories for these amazing students and also for myself as we will no longer have these studios moving forward. This post is titled STUDIO REMNANTS as a reminder that these photos are a glimpse of their work spaces that were stopped in an instant. Remote classes began as soon as Seattle became a hotspot for COVID 19 and everyone had to pivot quickly. I have documented these spaces in detail to give to them later, but here are a few to honor this year's class of 2020. I will miss them dearly.

I have listed the artist and a link to their virtual Cornish College of the Arts BFA exhibition for you to see their bio and finished BFA artworks. A postponed gallery exhibition is planned for the future. TBD

Congratulations Cornish Class of 2020 Art Students!

Texture and Composition Research Studies for Paintings

I spent some time this past winter in Mexico and captured a few images of beautiful walls and doors. I see these as texture and composition research studies for paintings.....These colors are similar to the natural dyes I am making these days as well....so I look forward to begin sorting out what my new textile series will feel like....

Natural Dye Extracts

Going back to my roots a bit lately......making various natural dye extracts to use for some painting ideas in the works. I have had more time in my studio lately with our shelter in place guidelines for WA. state. I have been looking ahead and excited to create some pieces for an eventual group staff show at Cornish College of the Arts. We finished our new gallery and it inspires me to change up my work. In light of the recent pandemic......this process is an appropriate meditation practice as I figure our new painting ideas.
