Cornish College of the Arts - Art Dept.

Cheers!..... to the Art Dept. faculty celebrating with the graduating class of 2024 at Cornish College of the Arts. Students completed their BFA thesis exhibition at our 9th Ave gallery in April and will be exhibiting highlights from this group show at the Hutch in Seattle later next fall. It has been a truly amazing experience working with these dedicated, exceptional, and inspiring group of artists, educators and dear friends for almost a decade. I am so grateful for all we accomplished and contributed together to foster such talented students year after year.

"Sosho" Photo Series

These were made during a time of solitude and contemplation and desire to connect with nature directly in my painting and became some of my favorite studies for this series.

These include layers of translucent fabric and encaustic on paper and were photographed with the sun behind them to capture another layering effect.

"Sosho" Photo Series

Several years ago I started a series I have titled "Sosho" that has become very extensive and I will be sharing those here to record the variety and idea development. I see them as a potential large format photography exhibition in the future but for now I am just producing as many as I can in the same way I use my sketchbook for sorting out a visual library.

After a very long hiatus of several years which included a lot of difficult events, I am here for what I hope will be a place of new ideas and a renewed creative future for myself again. This photo I took in my yard a few feet from my studio in Seattle at the time of the eclipse this spring and it seems to be a good starting point to mark this moment for myself.
