The Art House Gallery in Atlanta has launched another world wide community art exhibition. The idea for this one is to make a visual encyclopedia on five mini canvases, each of which are interpretations of randomly given words to each artist participating. The Canvas Project - Volume 2 will be exhibiting soon at the Atrium Gallery in the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport from July 31 - September 4, 2009 and then opens at the Art House Gallery on September 25, 2009. A book titled "The Art House Encyclopedia VOL. 1" will be available July 31st for $20 at the Art House Gallery website.

Here are my entries for this year's Canvas Project. I have to say working this small 3" x 3" was a real challenge! So I decided to build up layers of wax to double the thickness of the canvas and use that as a starting point to carve into. You can see the thickness is this side view.

I am now working on my next ideas for the upcoming shows at Art House Gallery called The 10,000 People Project as well as A Million Little Pieces: Documentary which captures a glimpse into each participating person's life using personal everyday photos exhibiting in Atlanta in September 2009 and San Francisco in January 2010.
