About My Work

I have always been inspired to create work that seeks an essence of some aspect of nature with an emphasis on abstraction, color, surface and layering. My process usually combines printing, drawing and painting while incorporating muslin, washi, ink, graphite, and oil paints with encaustic. My body of encaustic work titled “INSIDE OUT” is an ongoing series examining origins, connections and lifelines. I use my interest in fiber/textiles, Japanese aesthetic, and natural forms to build imagery derived from trees, labyrinths, veins, knots, skeins, Japanese Shimenawa sacred ropes and Incan quipu to suggest strength, vitality, continuum, nourishment, and ancestral links.
